FORMTONE Privacy Policy

FORMTONE is an experimental, playful visual and sound creation tool. No account is required. We do not operate a server that receives your creative content.

Local content and permissions

Scenes, settings, recordings and imported audio, images and video are processed and stored on your device. Microphone recording begins only through your action and permission. Optional camera hand control analyzes frames locally; these frames are not saved or uploaded by FORMTONE. You can decline or revoke microphone and camera permissions in iOS Settings and use other instruments.

Handwriting recognition

Chinese handwriting uses Google ML Kit. Recognition input and results are processed on-device and are not sent to Google. Model downloads and updates require a connection to Google. ML Kit also sends API performance and utilization metrics to Google for maintenance, debugging, improvement and abuse prevention. These include installation identifiers, device and app information, latency, event/error information and configured recognition languages. Its bundled privacy manifest declares device identifiers, product interaction, performance and other diagnostic data, other data, and other user content, not linked to identity or used for tracking. This does not mean your handwriting strokes, recognition results or imported media are uploaded. See ML Kit privacy information and Google’s Privacy Policy. FORMTONE does not include advertising or advertising tracking.

External instruments and links

Optional AUv3 instruments are separately installed software governed by their developers’ privacy practices. Opening the works website or other external links connects to those websites and their hosting providers.

Storage and deletion

Deleting the app removes its local app data. Files you originally imported, exported copies and device or iCloud backups must be managed separately. Backups depend on your Apple settings. Removing a scene element is not a secure erasure of stored assets; local assets may remain for restoration.

Support, website and Apple

If you email support, we receive your email address and what you choose to send, and use it to respond. This static website has no advertising cookies or analytics scripts. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata to deliver and protect the website. Apple handles distribution, purchases and diagnostics you choose to share under its own privacy practices. We do not receive payment card information.
